Speech by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey to the Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Global Security
Dear attendants,
At the beginning of the new millennium, terrorism which became the most important agenda of the world has become the base of democracy and global security policy not only of Turkey but also of all countries of the world.
Today, I wish I could be together with you and share my ideas with you also. But I am talking to you from another part of the world, a part which is different from the country that you are in, from America. |

Closing Remarks by Chris W. Eskridge Executive Director of American Society of Criminology of USA
Closing Remarks: Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Global Security June 11, 2005, Istanbul, Turkey
As noted, I serve as the Director of the American Society of Criminology, an entity that consists of members from more than 50 countries. It is our organizations goal to promote the professional interests of criminology as a field of study, and to ultimately realize an enhanced sense of communal justice, not only in the United States, but throughout our world. It is in that context that I personally become quite excited to see what has transpired here in Istanbul in the last week as representatives from 65 countries have gathered together, and what has been and what continues to be done. |
